He gave a lot to this club when it was really required and Partizan rewarded him for his true efforts. After a months-long battle with illness , goalkeeper Nemanja Stevanovic returned between the posts recently and now he signed another two-year deal with the club. This penalty-kicks specialist spoke to the Partizan website on those troubles now behind him and his new contract.
"New two-year deal for me after a tough period behind me! I was sidelined for about six months with Coxsackle virus and i wasn`t able to train and help the team. But, I`m glad the club and boss Stanojevic recognized my battles for the club over the last eight years, showing respect and understanding allowing me to continue our joint venture to the mutual satisfaction. I`m extremely honoured and proud that the ending of my contract would mark my tenth year with the club.
I`m now even more motivated to represent the club in a best possible way, to help the team and the club to become even more successful.
The virus is now thing of the past and i have no symptoms whatsoever. I never missed a single session during pre-season. Goalkeepers coach set the sessions in a right way so there was no much inflammation or strains during the preps, so I`m ready for the season ahead.
My aims and desires are solely about Partizan. I wouldn`t go too far, lets go step by step. Each game is a cup final when you are at this club and if we approach it as such, we can have joy come-may and play a significant role in Europe this season. I`m here to help the team in every way. Therefore, if I am between the posts, it will be a big final for me as it was before", said 32-year-old Nemanja Stevanovic.
